Music

Hum of the bees to flower.
Sway of the leaves to the trees.
The chimes of the bells each hour,
and moos of a cow appease.
Echoes to the deep valleys.
Streams to the rugged mountains.
Silence of cobbled alleys,
the burble of the fountains.
Music is breath to a soul-
know it, feel it, let it roll.

Somewhere There

Take me where the blue waves roll onto sand.
The sun and the moon by turn rise and land.
Where the flock of birds mingle with footprints,
and slow as a turtle is the time’s hand.

Bull

One noon a lady saw a running bull.
Hither and thither she scampered frightful.
But once caught - the fear turned into a feast,
and chomped away for dinner plentiful.

A Pink Monsoon

The trees sway to the wind-brush.
The sky pinks with a deep blush.
And as the temple bells toll-
evening dusks to a sweet hush.

Layers

Layers decorate the soul
to camouflage its true face.
Becomes someone else’s clone,
tangles itself in a maze.
Questions not what it adorns,
afraid of the unknown fears.
And then quietly lives on
reminiscing its prime years.
To feel the fire or the ice-
let the soul have its own eyes.

Aunty & Uncle

There she sits in her third floor balcony
watching us naughty kids play noisily.
The daily chores paused with a cup of tea,
one hand rests on the railing quietly.
Then she sees the vegetable vendor,
she gets up and calls out in her soft voice.
She ropes down a basket to our wonder-
fills up, pulls up, amidst the nuisance noise.
Her house is always open to us all,
and here is where we find our second home.
Love embeds in the layers of her wall,
but travels with us wherever we roam.
I remember uncle and his sweet smile
that now reflects on aunty all the while.
